My journey in assessment started with helping a colleague prepare what was then called a data room for a reaffirmation visit in 2008. It turned out to be filled with good data for the reviewers and received a ton of praise. That then lead to working on indexing materials for reviewers using a homegrown product which then evolved into creating portfolios of each unit (academic and cocurricular) for the next review. My expertise all started in volunteering outside of my responsibilities to help the institution. I started as a self-taught assessment librarian. Now, I engage students, faculty and staff in doing assessment to help with continuous improvement at our institution.
